What is "gotcha" or "gacha"?

The word "gacha" comes from "Gashapon," a line of toy vending machines in Japan. A gacha, or gachas, refers to the toy prizes obtained from these vending machines in exchange for currency. Over time, the term "gacha" has evolved in pop culture to describe any games where the primary goal is to collect prizes. Interestingly, "gacha" sounds like the English slang "gotcha," which is an exclamation used when something is enthusiastically obtained. The original Gotcha For Gaza fandom event used "gotcha" in its name, and this event has chosen to adopt that word as well.
